Nadal Completes The Grand Slam

Rafael Nadal one of my favorite tennis players became youngest male player to win a career grand slam Monday night. It was originally suppose to play out Sunday night but due to rain they postponed ti to Monday.  With a four-set victory over Novak Djokovic, who by the way did his best to stop Nadal from achieving the grand slam.

The Spaniard had just 11 unforced errors in the last two sets against Djokovic, steadying his concentration when the Serb came out swinging after the rain delay. Djoker turned up his intensity with repeated winners and a more aggressive style to take the second set. Even though he had all the pressure, the number one seed said he never got tight because he was prepared for a battle. “When it is one set all I think, well, he is playing better than me right now, just accept and wait,” said Nadal,  “Wait for my chance at the return and that is what I did. The chance arrived and I converted in the third game of the third set. That was the key of the third set.”
Nadal pointed to his second break of Djokovic in the fourth set as the decisive game, the time when victory became visible. The U.S. Open had been the one slam that has eluded Mr. Nadal, who never seemed very comfortable on hard courts until these past two weeks. The difference this time around: a serve that became a wicked weapon rather than simply a tool to start off the point.
With Spain winning the World Cup this summer, and Alberto Contador winning the Tour De Fance, Nadal has just show that Spain is the sports capital right now and they don't seem to be letting up anytime soon.
